Our Story

Forged in the Spirit of the Aztec

The El Dorado Aztec Band is more than a music program — it’s a family. For decades, our student musicians have carried the tradition of excellence onto fields, stages, and concert halls across West Texas and beyond, representing El Dorado High School with pride and passion.

Under dedicated director leadership, our program develops not just skilled musicians, but confident, disciplined, and creative young people ready to lead beyond the bandroom.

Performing Ensembles

Marching Band
Our flagship ensemble takes the field every fall, competing across Southern California in SCSBOA circuits. Precision drill, powerful brass, and a drumline that commands every stadium.

Symphonic Wind Ensemble
The premier concert organization, performing challenging concert band literature at festivals, adjudicated events, and our annual Spring Showcase.

Concert Band
A foundational ensemble where musicians develop core technique, musicianship, and ensemble skills that prepare them for our advanced groups.

Percussion Ensemble
From drumline to front ensemble, our percussionists train year-round, competing in WGI-style indoor circuits and anchoring every performing group.

Our Legacy

Decades of Excellence in El Paso

From humble beginnings to regional powerhouse, the El Dorado Aztec Band has built a legacy that echoes through every generation of El Paso musicians. Update these milestones with your real band history!

1970s
The Band is Founded
El Dorado High School opens its doors and the Aztec Band takes the field for the first time, establishing a proud tradition in East El Paso.
1980s
First Regional Title
The marching band earns its first regional competition title, putting El Dorado firmly on the Texas band map.
2000s
Program Expansion
Wind Ensemble and Percussion programs formalize; the boosters grow and the band begins traveling to out-of-state festivals.
2010s
Back-to-Back Championships
Consecutive UIL Marching and Concert awards cement El Dorado’s reputation as one of El Paso’s premier music programs.
Today
